When air makes sense
Air freight is the right choice for time-critical cargo, high-value goods, perishables, pharmaceuticals, and shipments where transit time or reliability outweighs cost. MoloChain returns live air rates from carriers on the requested origin and destination airport pair, calculated on chargeable weight (the greater of gross weight or volumetric weight).
What you need to request a quote
- Origin airport and destination airport.
- Gross weight in kilograms.
- Volume in cubic metres (used to derive volumetric weight at the standard 1:6000 or carrier-specific ratio).
- Optional: commodity, special handling (DG, cool chain, valuable cargo).
Documentation
Every booking is linked to a job number in OTMS, with the supporting AWB, commercial invoice, packing list, and delivery order managed together. Milestone notifications cover booking confirmation, departure, transhipment where applicable, arrival, and final delivery.

How are air rates calculated?
Per chargeable weight — the greater of gross weight or volumetric weight (V x 167 kg/m³ for standard cargo).
Can I book dangerous goods?
Yes, subject to carrier approval and proper IATA DGR documentation.
