How the pricing engine works
The MoloChain pricing engine takes a small set of inputs and returns live rates from carriers and forwarders that have published their pricing into the marketplace.
Required inputs:
- Origin port and destination port (or city, for land).
- Transport mode:
SEA,AIR, orLAND. - Service type:
FCL(Full Container Load),LCL(Less than Container Load), orAIR. - For
FCL: container type —20FT,40FT, or40HC. - For
LCLandAIR: weight (kg) and/or volume (cbm).
The engine then returns matching offers, calculates applicable markups based on the routing rules of the customer's account, and presents results in the customer's preferred currency.
What is included in a quote
- Base freight rate per container or per chargeable weight.
- Origin and destination port charges where applicable.
- Currency and validity period.
- Estimated transit time when carrier data is available.
From quote to shipment
An accepted quotation can be converted directly into a booking, then a bill of lading, then a tracked shipment — all within MoloChain's OTMS back office, with every document and financial record linked to a single job number.
